![]() I've also heard that the OG can struggle in low light settings with noise (though I honestly haven't seen many videos showcasing the issue), prone to overheating if the location is hot, prone to having its HDMI port breaking, and the discontinuation of the camera's SD cards (I'd opt to record directly to an SSD anyway). On the other hand, I do enjoy the 4k's features that the OG doesn't have, along with 4k being the industry standard nowadays. It just appears to be more "organic" looking, if that makes any sense, whereas a majority of the 4k footage I've seen looks like a documentary as opposed to narrative. Plus, I'm a huge stickler for having a "film"/cinematic motion cadence in my work, and from the many videos I've watched of the two cameras, the original BMPCC seems to have a noticeably better than the 4k. I feel like if I were to go with the OG camera, I'd have a good chunk of money left over to invest in really solid lenses and accessories. Since I'm on a budget, I'm naturally leaning towards the original BMPCC, since it's nearly half the price of the 4K. I'm very much an amateur when it comes to cameras, especially when it comes to videography (I've used DSLRs for photography in the past), but I do have years of production experience in different departments and positions, professional and indie. ![]() ![]() So I'm in the market for a Blackmagic camera, and I'm torn between the original BMPCC and the 4k.
